MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (Heartland News at 9) - A Florida woman was arrested in McCracken County, Kentucky on July 11 at 12:02 a.m.
Ashley Kennedy was charged with improper lane usage- vehicles keep right except to pass, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs first-offense, possession of controlled substance first-degree first-offense (heroin), possession of controlled substance first-degree first-offense (drug unspecified), possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, operating on suspended or revoked operator’s license, failure to produce insurance card, giving officer false identifying information and wanton endangerment- second-degree.
Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department stopped a 2003 Nissan Maxima for traffic violations on Interstate-24 going westbound.
The driver was identified as 29-year-old Kennedy, of Ocala, Florida who stated that she and her young son who was a passenger in the vehicle were moving from Florida to Illinois.
Deputies said Kennedy stated she did not have her operator’s license in her possession, but the vehicle was registered in her name.
Kennedy was giving a false name and was using her sister's information according to deputies. Kennedy was found to be under the influence of alcohol as well as illegal drugs while operating the vehicle and was arrested.
Further investigation led to a search of the vehicle and revealed 3.7 grams of heroin, 42 grams of marijuana, nine doses of hydrocodone pills, and paraphernalia items.
Kennedy was arrested and transported to McCracken County Regional Jail.
