MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (Heartland News at 9) - Deputies with the McCracken County Sheriff’s Department arrested two men after a theft investigation.
Officials said 19-year-old Gabriel McGill of Paducah is charged with tampering with physical evidence, theft by unlawful taking - firearm, theft by unlawful taking - all other under $500.
Jason Moore, 40 of Paducah, has been charged with first degree, possession of a controlled substance, first-offense (methamphetamine), buying/possessing drug paraphernalia, possession of a handgun by a convicted felon and resisting arrest, menacing, receiving stolen property (firearm).
Deputies said on Wednesday evening, February 6 McCracken County Deputy Croft was investigating a theft.
Deputy croft learned of a stolen iPhone, smart tablet and firearm that were stolen from a residence on Clinton Rd.
Croft said he identified the suspect as McGill who was later found at a hotel. Croft interviewed McGill during which time McGill intentionally broke the stolen phone in the presence of Croft.
He was arrested and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
Deputies said they continued the investigation which led them to Moore. Officials found Moore at his place of employment on Lone Oak Rd where he admitted he had the firearm with him.
Deputies recovered the firearm and found that Moore was also in possession of methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia. He was also taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail.
McCracken County officials said a photo of Moore is not available at this time.
