MURPHYSBORO, IL (Heartland News at 9) - A Murphysboro, Illinois man sentenced for killing a dog is facing new charges.

Travis W. Worthen was arrested on an aggravated assault charge Monday night, May 9 on Maple St.

According to Murphysboro Police Chief Jamie Ellermeyer, Worthen allegedly threatened witnesses after recently being sentenced to 24-month probation for killing a dog.

Online court services show a hearing has been set to revoke Worthen’s probation on Monday, May 20 and an arraignment hearing, on the new charge, has been set for Wednesday, June 5 at the Jackson County Courthouse.
