PADUCAH, KY (Heartland News at 9) -

A Paducah, Kentucky man was arrested after he met an undercover detective to sell drugs to him, invesigators claim.

According to police, Montez L. Benjamin, 41, was arrested just before 4 p.m. Wednesday, August 8.

Paducah Police Department drug detectives received information that Benjamin was trafficking in methamphetamine. They began an investigation, and Benjamin agreed to meet an undercover detective to sell the drug to him. When Benjamin arrived, detectives found 2.4 grams of meth in his vehicle and arrested him.

After a search warrant was served at Benjamin’s home, detectives found more methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a .380-caliber handgun.

Benjamin has prior felony convictions and therefore cannot possess a handgun. He was booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.

Agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives assisted in the investigation.
