SOUTHEAST MISSOURI (Heartland News at 9) - Departments in the Southeast Missouri area will take part in an Earthquake Drill on Wednesday, May 16.
The National Guard 7th CST and the SEMO HSRT (Homeland Security Response Team) will have a mock Railroad Emergency resulting from an Earthquake. Emergency teams will successfully work to minimize and contain a hazardous material emergency.
According to the Jackson Fire Rescue Captain and PIO Robert Greif, on that Wednesday the drill will be taking place in Scott City, Mo from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Jackson Fire Department, Cape Girardeau Fire Department, Sikeston DPS, and the National Guard 7th CST will come together to train in a natural disaster scenario.
Greif said there will be lots of emergency vehicles in this area during that time. Please be cautious of additional traffic and remember that this is only an exercise.
