PADUCAH, KY (Heartland News at 9) - In Paducah, Kentucky the National Weather Service held a ceremony Tuesday, May 14 to recognize and accredit West Kentucky Community and Technical College as a storm ready supporter.
A community must achieve a specific level of hazardous weather operations readiness in order to be accredited as a StormReady Supporter.
“Back in March, we had a tornado that actually landed just about across the street from the school. This recognition reiterates and reaffirms, the importance and certainly the ways in which we can continue to collaborate with all of our emergency preparation partners,” said Dr. Anton Reece, President of WKCTC.
StormReady is a national program unveiled by the National Weather Service in April 2000.
