NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — It was a surprise of a lifetime.

After 361 days serving the U.S. Navy in Bahrain, Robert Millerbernd came home and a Goose Creek family is finally reunited.

"I was so happy, I almost wanted to jump to the ceiling," said Millerbernd's daughter.

His family was overwhelmed as he walked through the door of Park Circle Creamery. Millerbernd said it's different seeing his family in person again -- but an amazing different.

His children were shocked at his arrival back to South Carolina.

"I was not thinking it would happen this early, it was supposed to happen this Friday," said one of his daughters.

They are all happy to be sharing experiences again, like eating ice cream together or getting the family baby to walk to Robert.

The Millerbernd family is now whole again.

Millerbernd says he more than likely will be deployed again. In the meantime, he's going to enjoy much-needed time with his family.
